The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) promotes democracy, human rights, economic freedom, and curbing climate change. In Southeast and East Asia, we have offices in Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta, Manila, Seoul, Taipei, and Yangon. We also work in Malaysia. The FNF regional team works with the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, the Working group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, the Asia Centre, and the ASEAN Prosperity Initiative, which is part of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs. Democracy and AI - How technological progress can strengthen our democracy
The discourse surrounding AI is often dominated by extreme positions: either threat scenarios are exaggerated or the benefits are overemphasized. It is time to look for a new narrative that is neither uncritically positive nor overly pessimistic. In the report ‘Democracy and AI - how technological progress can strengthen democracy’, 30 global examples of the successful use of AI to strengthen democracy are analyzed and serve as a basis for assessing the potential.

Palaces for the People – An Urban Lab for the Cities & Communities of the Future
On May 17th, 2024, the second event of the 2024's Global Citizen Dialogue series took place in form of a day-long workshop called “Palaces for the People – An Urban Lab for the Cities & Communities of the Future”. FNF Korea, in collaboration with POSCO TJ Park Foundation, organized this workshop in order to give participants a platform to engage and interact with the important aspect of communal virtues in urban life.

Business and Human Rights: An Important Milestone for Human Rights in Indonesia
On May 20th, 2024, the Human Rights Division of Indonesia's Ministry of Law and Human Rights officially launched the "Implementing Guidelines for the Regional Task Force on Business and Human Rights." FNF as one of the Ministry's partners had contributed to realizing the implementation of the regulation since the early process.

FNF and LP convenes Political Education Forum at PUP-Manila
In order to teach the concept of liberalism and its societal significance and help future political leaders embrace political awareness as a means to advocate for the country’s welfare, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF)- Philippines collaborated with the Liberal Party of the Philippines (LP), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)-Political Science Society, and College of Political Science and Public Administration (CPSPA) Student Council to convene the "Kulayaan ang Kamalayan: Political Education Forum” on May 20, 2024, at PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila.

“Governing will be difficult“
On Monday May 20, the new President of Taiwan, William Lai Ching-te and his Vice-President Hsiao Bi-khim were inaugurated in Taipei. Many representatives from neighbouring countries and the international community, politicians from all Taiwanese political groups and civil society representatives attended.
